Ranibizumab Effective in Diabetic Macular Edema

May 7, 2010 — Intravitreal ranibizumab (Lucentis; Genentech), in combination with laser treatment, is more effective than triamcinolone and laser alone for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME) involving the central macula, according to the findings of a randomized trial published online April 27 in Ophthalmology and presented at a teleconference held by the National Eye Institute.
